It’s that time of year again when the Spring Racing Carnival rolls around for ten weeks of world-class racing, and incredible fashion! When the intriguing names of ‘horses to watch’ are on the tip of everyone’s tongues, and fancy fascinators and frocks are the go-to look in fashion.
Kicking off mid October, the hottest tickets in Sydney are the Australia Turf Club races held in venues around town including Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens. There are 23 group races and a prize pool of over $23 million.
Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach is a popular choice for those who enjoy the festival atmosphere and enjoy a flutter, as the closest and most accessible hotel to the Royal Randwick venue– only a short cab journey, or 15-minute M50 bus ride away.

The TAB Everest – the world’s richest turf race
Royal Randwick
A debut event, set to be Australia’s most anticipated and biggest racing event with the world’s best thoroughbred sprinters, trainers, jockeys and industry legends. The $10 million sprint race will enjoy some impressive entertainment during the day, including a special guest performance by multi-platinum recording artist, Jason Derulo, after the last race.

City Tattersall’s Club Cup Day
Royal Randwick
An exciting day at the races, considered the party day at the track. There is live entertainment all day with DJs, themed bars and Group and Listed races throughout the day.
Saturday 28 October
Cox Plate Race Day
Royal Randwick
If you can’t get to Melbourne – this is the next best place. All the live action from Melbourne is broadcast, including the Cox Plate race. On the day there will be themed bars, food stalls and live entertainment.
Saturday 4 November
Derby Day Race Day
Rosehill Gardens
Derby Day is the traditional black and white dress day. Catch all the live racing action from Flemington as Rosehill puts on an exciting display to celebrate the day.
Tuesday 7 November
Melbourne Cup
Royal Randwick
It’s called the ‘race that stops a nation’ as all of Australia stops to watch the winning horse cross the line in this world-famous racing event.
