Sydney Fringe Festival
With more than 450 events spread out across 70 different venues, the Sydney Fringe Festival returns in September bigger and better than ever before. This year, the festivities take place at Fringe HQ, 5 Eliza Street, Newtown. As the largest independent arts festival in NSW, creators from all over the city come together to share Sydney’s stories - presenting new and unique productions that cover arts, music, dance and more. While most of the fun takes place in September, look out for pop-up events throughout the year.
Taste Of Coogee
Returning for the 8th year, Taste Of Coogee returns on Saturday 4 September and Sunday 5 September 2021 from 10 am - 10 pm. Sit back, relax and soak up the sun whilst enjoying spending time together with family and friends with live entertainment, local produce, celebrity chefs, artisanal stalls, and much more. It might just be the perfect Father’s Day outing?! Held at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, treat dad to an iconic long lunch and celebrate everything to do with outstanding cuisine, fine wine, carnival rides and craft beer. Travelling with kids? They are more than welcome to join the festivities with plenty of kid-friendly entertainment to behold too.
City2Surf
City2Surf will be back on Sunday 17th October 2021, bringing epic celebrations and a test of endurance to the masses. Run, jog, walk or stroll the 14km from Hyde Park in Sydney's CBD to the finish at Bondi Beach. City2Surf is a fantastic way to spend a day taking in the best sights in Sydney, giving you a whole new perspective of the CBD, suburbs and beautiful coastline. While things are still in the planning stage, the date is set, and there’s sure to be plenty of great food, live entertainment and celebrations at the end of the day. Coogee can be accessed via the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk or via a 10 minute uber.
Hamilton
Immerse yourself in the story of Hamilton - the founding father of America with a performance of choreography, music and theatre that is a meld of hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway. Based on Ron Chernow’s biography, HAMILTON, the Grammy®, Olivier, Tony, and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical takes centre stage at the Sydney Lyric Theatre from now until Sunday December 19th. Discover first hand how this show has become a cultural phenomenon, bringing an eclectic mix of modern music and history together as one.
Vivid Sydney
There is nothing quite like Vivid Sydney when it comes to celebrating in unique and imaginative ways. Running from the 6th - 28th of August, Sydney is transformed from a concrete jungle into a world of hypnotising light, mesmerising music and forward-thinking ideas for future generations. Light artists, music makers and brilliant minds come together to celebrate the here and now with Vivid Light, Vivid Music and Vivid Ideas. Check out mind-blowing projections on to some of the city’s most iconic structures, including The Rocks, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and Barangaroo - then dance the night away at one of the many live music projects dotted around Sydney. Perfect for the whole family, discover a whole new perspective of coming together and celebrating life in the most magical way possible. Make sure to look out for Heaps Gay: Qween’s Ball at Luna Park (7th August). Heaps Gay will be throwing one of the first parties at the new-look Luna Park as part of Vivid’s always exciting music program, and should easily be one of Vivid’s most memorable nights.
The National 2021 New Australian Art
Currently running until Sunday 5th of September, The National 2021 the Art Gallery of NSW showcases the work of 14 projects that look at ways to deal with the damage done to social and natural ecosystems. Celebrating 39 individual Australian artists working across a plethora of industries and genres, exhibit,s that are being held at the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Thought-provoking observations that are provocative, poetic and political can be seen at the Art Gallery of New South Wales until the Sunday 5th of September at the Museum of Contemporary Art and until the Sunday 22nd August.
Hunter Valley Food and Wine Tasting
Famous for being one of the best winemaking regions not only in Australia but the world, the Hunter Valley is home to award-winning wines, craft beers and ciders. This year, get ready to tantalise your tastebuds with some of the finest food and drink around - and all without having to be the designated driver. The Hunter Valley Food and Wine Tasting from Sydney takes you on a guided tour of three stunning wineries where you get to sample the delights on offer.
