Beach fun for the whole family, even in winter!
Be tempted with a beach holiday these July school holidays. Get the family together and enjoy the events happening all around the area.
There is plenty to keep the kids entertained as well sea views and oceans breezes to calm and relax mum and dad.
Coogee is a beautiful beachside location with its proximity to Sydney’s CBD, and the wide variety of both outdoor and indoor activities and experiences on the Eastern Suburbs coastal doorstop, ensures its popular ranking with families all year around.
To keep the kids entertained these July school holidays, here is our top list of things to see and do:
Ice-skating by the beach
Until Sunday July 22
Australia’s only beachside ice-skating rink, as part of Bondi Winter Magic. Enjoy a spin on the ice during the day, or under the stars, with the rink open from 10am to 9pm. Skating sessions start on the hour and each skating session is 45 mins. Lessons also available.
Whale watching, along the Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk
Arguably Sydney’s most spectacular walk, the Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk is on the hotel’s doorstep. It’s also the perfect vantage spot to look out for whales during their annual migration – spot them heading north from May to mid-July. Pick a spot along the 6km of picturesque coastal path, bring your binoculars and a picnic lunch, and there is no better way to spend the day.
Bondi Vista
Until July 29
The ferris wheel is back! Bondi Vista will give visitors a spectacular 360 degree views of Bondi Beach from a 22-metre high ferris wheel. Enjoy soaring high above the iconic Bondi Beach, running daily from 9am to 10pm daily and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
The latest family blockbusters, in a heritage cinema
They don’t make them like this these days. Check out the latest films at ‘The Spot’, aptly named for its shopping, specialty stores, dining, and the heritage Ritz Cinema in Randwick to check out the latest films. Hot movies for kids these holidays include Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation and Incredibles 2. Classics such as The Lion King and Aladdin are also paying during July.
Cookie decorating workshops
Head across town to a favourite location for kids and parents alike – The Grounds of Alexandria. During the school holidays, they will host cookie decorating workshops. Book the kids into one of the regular sessions, and then finish the day spotting Kevin Bacon and his other urban farmyard friends.
Centennial Parklands
There is always so much to do at Centennial Park during the school holidays. Bring a picnic rug and soccer ball, and watch the resident ducks in the pond. For more organised activities, during the school holidays, there will be a variety of activities and programs including pony rides, plaster painting studios, kids golf and much more.
